Here you can download the first session in the Why Bother? resource set, as well as the accompanying appendix which has all the materials ready for you to run your session.

This resource is intended as a introduction to political engagment, faith, and making a difference. It has a mixture of activities and discussion starters to enable you to explore key themes in Catholic Social Teaching and their relevance to the upcoming election.

It is suggested that you run this session before focussing in on a particular topic. Various elements of this session examine the priorities that the group give to different areas of social justice. You might like to make note of areas that seem to attract a particular focus (or absence of focus) and run one of the more detailed sessions afterwards.

Sometimes it can be tricky to get our heads around all the information to do with politics and political engagement. This 'glossary' of useful words may help you get to grips with some of the in's and out's of the upcoming election.
